DISTRICT 09

General Service Positions

ALL General Service Commitments require two (2) years of Sobriety, and are a two-year commitment.

  • This job is an elected position within your group. We have a pamphlet called the GSR which can help you determine your job duties. Also, expected duties include:

    1. Attend monthly District meetings.

    2. Attend four Area assemblies per year and elect Area Delegate.

    3. Serve as mail contact with the General Service office as well as the Area.

    4. Collect group conscience on topics of interest to your group and report to the District and Area.

  • 1. Chair the monthly District committee meeting

    2. Chair the monthly District Officers/Agenda Planning meeting (held sometime prior to the next district meeting) the date, time and location to be determined by the needs of District Officers for each panel.

    3. Encourage group communication with AA as a whole via the General Service Conference Process.

    4. Encourage GSR communication between the groups and the District.

    5. Attend the monthly Area meeting and Area Assemblies and report back to the District.

    6. Report at the Area Meeting the “State of the District” following the DCMC District Report Guidelines from the area.

    7. Attend Regional functions (PRAASA, Forums) as possible.

    8. Function as the district coffeemaker (or find someone to volunteer) including getting supplies.

  • 1. Fill in for DCMC if they are not able to attend District or Area meetings.

    2. Visit meetings in district throughout panel.

  • 1. Regularly attend all district meetings, the monthly area meeting, and area assemblies.

    2. Attend the District Officer/Agenda Planning Meeting.

    3. Assist GSRs in becoming acquainted with the AA Service Manual and other service material.

    4. Make a regular practice of talking to new and old groups on the responsibilities of general service work.

    5. Hold GSR sharing session meetings when able (usually a week after the District meeting) the purpose of which is to have a smaller group where ample discussion can be achieved on specific issues within their sub-district.

  • 1. Attend the monthly District meeting and the District officer’s meeting.

    2. Give a report on activity for the past month, plus any anticipated activity.

    3. Collect mail from the post office box.

    4. Process group contributions and mail out receipts to said groups.

    5. Generate (20) copies of the monthly District expense report.

    6. Issue checks for operating expenses, any other reimbursements.

  • 1. Record the minutes of the District committee meetings.

    2. With the assistance of the other District officers draw up the forthcoming District Committee meeting agenda, usually at the officer's meeting.

    3. Send via e-mail, agendas, minutes, and any other pertinent material, as directed by the committee officers, to all District officers, and GSRs, at least 1 week prior to the District meeting. Also, make same available in hard copy to all those who request regular mail delivery.

  • 1. Attend the monthly District meeting and the District officer’s meeting.

    2. Give a report on activity for the past month, plus any anticipated activity.

    3. Maintain and update group information.

    4. Keep Area Registrar abreast of all changes.

    5. With the assistance of the DCMs, update the District database and keep GSO apprised of all changes.

    6. Register new GSRs and District officers with the Area Registrar.

    7. Attend the Area Election Assembly in November of the second year of the panel and assist the Area Registrar.

  • 1. Attend the monthly District meeting, District Officers/Agenda Planning meeting and give reports on activity of the past month, plus any anticipated activity.

    2. Become familiar with the contents of the CPC workbook.

    3. Hold monthly CPC committee meetings.

    4. Reach out to the Professional Community in District 09.

    5. Attend monthly Area CPC meetings

  • 1. Attend monthly District meeting and the District officer’s meeting, giving a report on Archive activity for the past month, plus any anticipated activity.

    2. Attend the Area monthly Archives committee meetings.

  • 1. Plan PI Committee events e.g., online and/or in person programs.

    2. Come up with creative ways for the District to carry the message in and out of AA.

    3. Attend monthly District meetings and provide an update on PI Committee activities.

    4. Attend the Area monthly meetings.

  • 1. Attend monthly Intergroup meeting, usually the 1st Thursday of every month at 7pmPT. Provide a report of Area 9 and District 9 activities.

    2. Attend monthly District meeting, usually the 3rd Sunday of every month at 4pmPT. Provide a report of Intergroup activities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

ABILITY TO NOT TAKE YOURSELF SO SERIOUSLY!!!!   HAVE FUN, HOWEVER; REMEMBER THAT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A GIFT, SO THAT WE MIGHT SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD.
